"Conservative Squad" Aims to Challenge AOC's Socialist Gal Pals

The so-called “Squad” of four freshman Democrat congresswomen has quickly become one of the biggest irritants in US politics. The foursome, centered around Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), lacks political experience and, seemingly, the most basic knowledge of economics, but they’ve been making grand plans for the future of our country anyways. Now they’re facing a challenge, though, as four bright young conservatives seek election to Congress to form a squad of their own.

Four women who’re running for Congress have declared themselves to be a “conservative squad,” as a right-wing counter to the antics of Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).

  • Six weeks ago Jessica Taylor, a Republican congressional candidate from Alabama, spoke to Fox and Friends about the need for a conservative counterpart to the far-left group. She said bluntly that she was “sick of arrogant socialists like AOC… trying to tell us how to live in Alabama”.
  • Now Taylor is back — and this time she has three friends with her. On Thursday, she made a second appearance on Fox and Friends, accompanied by congressional candidates Michelle Fischbach from Minnesota, Nancy Mace of South Carolina and Beth Van Duyne from Texas.
  • Fischbach told the audience, “This is about bringing the conservative message to the people of the United States, so that people understand that we’re looking at do-nothing Democrats. They are obsessing about impeachment and not really doing anything for the people of the United States anymore.”
  • Mace blamed the socialist squad for the Democrats’ abrupt tack to the left — and there’s a lot of truth in that. Extremists like AOC are popular among people who’re too young to remember how socialism worked in the real world, and mainstream Dems have been trying desperately to attract the same young voters by adopting the same far-left policies.
  • In a blast at the impeachment-obsessed House, Van Duyne said: “we really do have a Congress that is run by extremists, and it’s dangerous for America because they are really not doing anything.”
  • Taylor, a businesswoman and mother of three who’s married to a major in the Alabama National Guard, says the country needs young conservatives to bring a new generation of Americans back to fundamental values. She says, “I’m pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-wall and pro-Trump, and I won’t apologize for it.” In a campaign video, she restated the need for a conservative squad and promised, “I’ll build it.”
