Did Adam Schiff Lie, Again?

Did Adam Schiff Lie, Again?

(UnitedVoice.com) – Sloppy research and an overzealous desire to remove President Trump from office may have led to House Intelligence Chairman and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) getting his facts wrong.

Schiff is currently the lead member of the House’s prosecution team in the impeachment hearing before the Senate.

In December 2019, the president was impeached on a party-line vote in the House. Democrats claimed that Trump abused his presidential powers and obstructed Congress over a phone call with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky. During the call, Trump asked for an investigation by Ukraine into Joe Biden and Hunter Biden’s alleged corruption.

It’s also alleged that the Trump administration withheld financial aid to Ukraine until the Ukrainians agreed to investigate the Bidens. The funds were released a month after the call and Trump released the phone transcripts ahead of the impeachment hearings. Ukraine had no knowledge of the financial hold and Trump’s legal team claims there was no quid pro quo, bribery, or extortion.

The articles of impeachment do not cite any specific laws broken and some legal experts, including Professor Jonathan Turley of Georgetown, agree that there are no underlying high crimes or misdemeanors.

Schiff’s Under-Researched Allegation

On Tuesday, Politico reported that in Schiff’s haste to bring to light new allegations against Trump, he failed to fully research potential evidence regarding Lev Parnas, a friend and former attorney for Rudy Guiliani. Parnas was indicted for campaign finance law violations.

In a letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Schiff alleges that Parnas “continued to try to arrange a meeting with President Zelensky.” Parnas’ specific text message with Giuliani states: “trying to get us mr Z.”

Following the release of the text message, Schiff claimed that Trump’s scheme was being exposed and that Americans deserved all the facts.

There is one problem… Schiff’s lack of due diligence resulted in getting “all the facts” wrong. In his quick rush to judgment and desire to have more evidence before the start of the Senate impeachment trial, he neglected to verify who “mr Z” actually was.

The initial version of the text message was redacted. However, Politico obtained the unredacted version and found the reference to Zelensky to be false. Instead, Parnas was referring to Mykola Zlochevsky, the founder of Burisma. Burisma is the energy company at the heart of corruption allegations involving the Bidens.

Quick Responses to Schiff’s Allegations

In an interview Tuesday night, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) said, “They (Democrats) accused us of doing nefarious things with this Lev Parnas character. The truth is, Adam Schiff and the Democrats have been doing nefarious things with Parnas.”

In response to Politico, a Republican aide said, “The most charitable view of the situation is that [Schiff’s] staff committed the equivalent of Congressional malpractice by not looking more than an inch deep to determine the facts before foisting this erroneous information on his colleagues and the American public.”

Not Schiff’s First Incident

Over the past four months, Schiff has been accused of not being forthright in regard to the impeachment inquiry. In his opening statement in September, Schiff put words in Trump’s mouth and made up parts of the Ukranian call script.

Only after being called out for the fabrication did Schiff say it was meant as a parody caricature of the call. However, viewers watching had no way of knowing that as Schiff read, what appeared to be, the transcript straight-faced. He didn’t disclose upfront that it was a parody before being called out.

In addition, credible reports also revealed that Schiff met with the whistleblower who exposed the Ukranian call in August, before the impeachment hearings began. It was also reported that Schiff and Joe Biden personally know the whistleblower. Schiff denies the allegations.

This latest “mistake” is just one more in a long line of lies and half-truths to come from Shifty Schiff. And we’re sure he’s not done yet.
